Group Therapy in Richmond, Virginia

For those battling
self-criticism & shame.

Does this sound like you?

You tend to minimize your emotions, often comparing your struggles and telling yourself others have it way worse than you.

Your compassion toward others comes naturally to you, but giving this to yourself is extremely challenging.

You beat yourself up in your own mind A LOT, maybe even non-stop.

You are not alone.

Let’s talk about…

Group Therapy

Group therapy is an invaluable way to connect with others who are experiencing similar life challenges.  When you are able to see your own struggles in others you feel less alone in the world.  The group experience is also a great way to learn about how others have successfully navigated and coped with life challenges.

What Group Therapy can help you achieve:

  • Increased sense of connection with others.

  • Feel less alone in your struggles by seeing others who have similar issues.

  • Able to see others at various stages of healing, seeing that growth is possible.

  • Cultivate a kinder, more compassionate relationship with yourself.

  • Be less self-critical and decrease self-judgments.

  • Allow yourself to experience your emotions without judging yourself for struggling.

  • Stop comparing your challenges to others, knowing that your feelings are valid.

  • Build ways to take care of yourself and prioritize your needs.

How does it work?

I’m Alex, a licensed psychotherapist in Richmond, VA.

I strive to create a safe space to explore the messy, complicated, shadowy, parts of human existence.

After five years practicing as a licensed therapist, with a total of 13 years providing supportive services for victims/survivors of trauma, I've crafted an approach that's both warm and direct. Your voice matters deeply to me, and I'm here to gently guide you through any areas of struggle. My practice often incorporates mindfulness and meditation techniques, encouraging clients to slow down and reconnect with their emotions and physical sensations.

Together, we'll uncover how past experiences shape your current challenges, while simultaneously celebrating and nurturing the strengths you already possess to support your journey towards growth and healing.
